WHAT GUYS DO WITH THEIR

"GUYS & STUFF"

_____________________________

WE HAVE CREATED THIS  PAGE TO SHOW - AND SHARE - WHAT SOME OF OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE DONE - AND ARE DOING WITH THEIR FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES

WE RECEIVE MANY PHOTOS, DISCS AND EMAILS AND SUCH FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD - AND IT IS REMARKABLE WHAT SOME OF THE COLLECTORS DO - FROM CONVERSIONS OF FIGURES TO DIORAMAS - TO PAINTING AND BUILDING STUFF.

OUR NUMBER ONE GOAL HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO PROMOTE THE HOBBY - AND THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO DO THAT.

IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING OF INTEREST THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD - PLEASE LET US KNOW.

WE WILL INCLUDE YOUR PROJECT PHOTOS AND ALSO YOUR NAME - BUT ONLY WITH YOUR PERMISSION.

__________________________

WE HAVE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS TO POST FROM COLLECTORS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

I APOLOGIZE THAT WE HAVE NOT KEPT UP VERY WELL WITH THIS WEBPAGE.

IT IS ONLY A LACK OF TIME THAT HAS KEPT US FROM POSTING MORE PHOTOS, ETC., AND WE HOPE TO GET TO MORE OF THEM WHEN WE CAN.

REMEMBER, THERE ARE ONLY TWO "EMPLOYEES" HERE TO DO "EVERYTHING"!!

( ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DOG QUIT! )

( WE FOUND THE DOG - SHE WENT WITH "UPS"; IT WAS THE BENEFITS PACKAGE THAT DID IT )

( SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG, JOEL! )

Nick and Deanna:

I've attached several jpg images and a couple that I had to crop in powerpoint format.  As I mentioned,  the images represent my (non)historical recreation of the attack on Ft. Stedman.

As you know, the attack on Ft. Stedman was Lee's final offensive push against the Union during the Petersburg campaign.  The Confederates briefly held Ft. Stedman following its attack, led by General Gordon, early on March 25,1865; but the Union counterattacked and drove the rebs back with great loss to Gordon's forces.  In this recreation, Gordon and his lieutenants were able to re-organize and attack a second time in coordination with Fitzhugh Lee's cavalry that attacked at the rear of Ft. Stedman. Union forces under Gen. Burnside sent in reinforcements, but in the chaos and fog of battle it is uncertain which side holds the upper hand.

I've got a mix of manufacturers in the diorama, as you can tell (Marx, Conte, K&C, Britain, TSSD, Barzso, plasticunderground, etc.).  Of course, the reb cavalry are provided by TSSD and there are several TSSD infantry in the mix, both Union and Confederate. In my opinion, the most interesting "personalities" are offered by TSSD and Conte's metal figures.  There is about a 70/30 mix of plastic to metal, and I painted about 65% of the figures and all of the diorama pieces. I even painted or painted over the large Conte defensive pieces to better match the other pieces and the real soil substrate -- yep, that's right, as you've said:  "play 'em in the dirt!"

FROM COLLECTOR

DAN WOLFE

Hello,

I am not sure if you remember who I am.  My name is Dan Wolfe and I have purchased soldiers and buildings from you in the past.  You may remember when you sold my 1/32 scale Lord of the Rings playsets and figures and I purchased a large selection of Formtech and Conte buildings.

My collection of toysoldiers is growing and I have started to make my own 1/32 scale buildings.  My son and I set up our Napoleonic soldiers and the first one to knock them down with been bags and nerf darts is the the winner.  I decided to make the playing field more interesting by making buildings and trees.  I made this (what I call a European farm) out of wood with brick, shingle, and stone pattern paper glued on to the wood.  The end result is a simple farm that can take a beating from the darts and bean bags.

I thought you would be interested in seeing this and maybe add the pictures to your section "what guys do with their toy soldiers." The last time I saw you was about 2-3 summers ago and you gave me a tour of your home.  Your beautiful home and devotion to toy soldiers inspired me to turn my garage into a toy soldier show case.  I am in the process of setting up my stuff and eventually would like to have my own website displaying dioramas and such.

I am in process of making more buildings.  I found some interesting brick patterns that would make some "cool houses." Also, I have been making trees that would add a bit of color to the battle scene.  I hope you enjoy the pictures. If you are interested, I can keep you updated on my progress and send more pictures.

All the best,

WOLFE

THANKS FOR SHARING, WOLFE!

FROM MIKE KUTNICK

LONGTIME COLLECTOR & CONVERTER / PAINTER

Nick,

I don't know if you can use these for your site or not. Gary Wedell asked me at OTSN to paint up a set of Barzo's Barbary Pirates as Turks. His only stipulations were that the Turks had red turbans and then sort of a "dusky/mediterranian'" complection.I finished just in time to give these to Gary at Indy next weekend.

See you in Texas,
Mike K

THANK YOU, MIKE!

Hi Nick & Deanna,

Hope you are both well & ready for the holiday's. I received these from Steve on saturday & have been painting at every opportunity (between going to work, looking after the kids while my wife was working & Remodeling our kitchen wich my wife wants done for Christmas) Now these might not be my best paint work becaues I was in a hurry,But they are certainly the best detailed plastics I have ever painted bar none! I did not have time to paint the 2 mounted figures as i did not think I could do the horses justice (Do you think I could have Compton Creel's email address to ask his advice on horse flesh?) There is one special holiday figure I hope you like. Must go now & put my two young sons to bed(future collectors definitely) Wishing you both a merry Christmas & a happy new year.

                                                                                                   Best Regard's,

                                                                                                                      Brian.

P.S. Keep those great figures coming!

P.P.S. The old longcoat figure is converted to look like St'Clair Mullholland of the Irish Brigade at Fredricksburg as seen in the film Gods & Generals & The cannons are 2nd edition B.M.C. with more robust wheels fitted.

THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT PHOTOS BRIAN!

AND FOR "FATHER CHRISTMAS"!!
